Troubleshooting Common Font Errors in Word

Font Installed But Missing from Menu

Word uses a persistent font cache. Close all Office apps, press Win + R, type services.msc, restart the Windows Font Cache Service, and re-open Word.

"Font Cannot Be Embedded Due to Licensing"

Some font creators set DRM embedding flags to "No Embedding Allowed". To share documents safely with restricted fonts, export the document as a PDF (File > Export > Create PDF/XPS).

Frequently Asked Questions

If Microsoft Word was open while you installed the font, Word will not detect the new system font until you completely close and restart the Word application. If it still does not appear, ensure the font was extracted from its ZIP archive and installed as TrueType (.ttf) or OpenType (.otf).
