About MICR E-13B & ANSI Banking Typography Standards
The MICR E-13B font was developed in the late 1950s by the American Bankers Association (ABA) in partnership with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) and General Electric. Standardized as ANSI X9.27 and ISO 1004:1995, MICR enables high-speed magnetic sorting machines to process checks with near-zero error rates.
